Darien Thira offers clinical consultation a to counsellors or front-line workers who are seeking ongoing clinical support and feedback, or guidance in the face of a difficult situation.
Clinical consultation provides an opportunity for professional development. Approaches and techniques are explored in relation to specific situations or general needs. It offers an essential “second opinion” when responding to challenging situations. Finally, clinical consultation/supervision offers ongoing support that reduces the risk of burnout and/or the impact of vicarious traumatization which enhances services and professional longevity. The standard procedure is regular consultations and availability for urgent calls at any other possible time.
Although we may sometimes need to discuss personal issues that may be relevant to clinical work, these consultation services are not psychotherapy but an opportunity to enhance our service as helpers and healers and our own wellness in the face of the work.
